A new Character has joined the ranks of the heroes populating the Flashfire Universe
This is Kestrel
Brought to life by the superbly talented VenneccaBlind
This 33 yr old Aussie Sheila, Patrols the streets of Melbourne Australia.
Coming out of her 11 years of hero retirement to protect the ones she cares more deeply for and bring her city out from under the heel of a dangerous well funded and well organized crime syndicate.
I would like to also thank my good Aussie friends that helped to inspire and create this character: Nicole Strojek and Gigi Evans
Kestrel will be getting her own series within the Flashfire universe and will be the 2nd comic series published by the my studio Infernox Comics

· Hero name: Kestrel
o Real name: Darcy Harris
· Age: 35
· Appearance
o Hair: armpit length brown hair
o Eyes: green
o Height: 5’6”
o Build: light build, but athletic.
· Clothing
o Kestrel inspired hero suit (light brown, white and black speckled). Carbon nanotube armor plates over vital area’s (chest, arms and lower legs). Hard shell face mask that covers most of her face. Long brown and black cape, diamond shaped on the ends to resemble bird feathers.
· Training
o Champion Kickboxer
o Adept at knife throwing
o Acrobatics
o Brilliant programmer
· Equipment
o Her mask has the ability to shift vision setting from normal, to low light/night vision, infrared, UV, and backscatter X-ray. And can even reroute to the visual feed of one of her many drones.
o Wrist mounted cable launcher, attached directly to the suit; a nylon-carbon harness property distributes he weight while swinging to avoid injury.
o She has an arsenal of various feather shaped throwing knives. They can vary from standard to Taser, knockout gas, smoke, bola constrictors, EMP and low grade explosive. These can be stored several places around her suit like on the inside of the cape, in pockets around her waist and stomach, and inside her arm gauntlets
o Her cape in made of a high strength carbon nanotube fabric, with several thin layers of titanium coated ceramic plates; these plates are interwoven into the cape in an overlay patter. If an electric current is passed through the fabric, the fabric locks into its current form/ shape. The combination of the materials makes it bullet proof and fire proof when it is locked in it solid state.
o In a similar fashion to her cape, the tips of the fingers on her gloves can also be hardened to form sharp talon like claws.
o “Birds of a feather” are a swarm of micro UAVs build by Darcy and her dad as a way of helping them in their crime fighting endeavors. Each is roughly about 6 inches in diameter, and they numbers in about 250 and are complexly silent, hooked up to satellites they can have an operational range of about 1000 miles. Originally they were only used for surveillance and tracking down criminals. Since then Darcy has upgraded them.
§ They have an advanced swarm mentality programing, allowing them to operate in several modes. Search: sends them out to cover the city until they pick up on any trace or clue of the current case. They have video cameras and microphones with facial and voice recognition tech. Investigation: once a lead is confirmed all drones converse to the location and set up a surveillance parameter, then a group of drones then attempt to infiltrate the target site to gather more information using advanced room mapping and navigation. Kestrel flock: a new feature that allows Kestrel to use her drones to create holographic decoys of herself that move around an area making it appear as if she is everywhere at once.
· Background
o Early life
§ Darcy’s father: Kendal Harris had been a computer hobbits and a tinkerer, coming in a fair sum of money from selling his products to reputable companies, not millions but enough for their family to live comfortably. Unfortunately that could not save his marriage to Darcy’s mother. However Darcy chose to stay with her dad, and her older brother, Darrell moved to live with their mom. At 18 she got suspicious of the amount of time her dad was spending away from the house. That is when she found out that her dad was actually the vigilante superhero Osprey, black mailing him by threatening to tell her mother she convinced him to let her join him in crime fighting. Thus becoming Kestrel. But her father’s health deteriorated quickly several years after that, and when he finally retired his cape so did Darcy.
o Off years
§ After they retired Darcy and her father went on to develop a revolutionary new design apparatus that used hard light holograms to physically display anything into a 3D space that could be touched, modified and tests in real time. Darrell who had since become a successful business man helped them sell the technology to companies around the world, almost instantly exploding the family’s wealth into the multi-billions. But soon after the success Kendal died due to complications with lung cancer from his years of smoking. Leaving all of the success and his controlling share in the new Harris Industries (the company Darrell started) to Darcy. But Darcy left Darrell to run the company, taking some of the money to buy her own private house.
o Currently
§ Living a somewhat dull life of a billionaire heiress, continuing to tinker and program, with the occasional bout in a kick boxing tournament. Being 11 years since she retired as a hero, she has gotten somewhat restless. When her brother invites her to a high level Gallia with some of the city’s richest and most prominent people, in an encounter with the top lawyer in the city and her daughter. The lawyer is on the verge of breaking a case on the major crime syndicates in the city. Darcy will soon find her life is about to get much more exciting, and she might have to dust off her costume and take to the streets once more to save her city.
· Personality:
o Darcy is a simple woman, who just so happens to be living in a high class life style she does not feel comfortable with, her youthful brashness has turned into a tempered spirit of determination. With her age has come a better understanding of using ingenuity and a proper application of force to get the job done. She can occasionally become very flustered when complications arise in her life, so much so that she tries to block everything out by retreating into her own little world, and avoiding those issues.
